Application of soft-computing techniques to engineering and complex phenomena modeling
(artificial neural networks ,genetic algorithms, fuzzy logic ... )
The aim of the course is to show how to apply soft-computing techniques (neural networks, genetic algorithms, fuzzy logic) to the following scenarios: development of feedforward models, development of soft-sensors, control algorithms, process optimization, machine learning and classification.
By using real case study will be shown how to integrate a classical engineering approach with soft-computing techniques in order to handle complex problems.
The main target of the course is to give to the student a good understanding of the potential of the three basic soft computing techniques and their typical application fields.
The teachers team is made of people mainly coming from the enigineering world but from different application areas (chemical , nuclear, electronics, physics). In this way different points of view are shown to the student.
The course is organized in the following way: 4 hours of theoretical lessons with mutimedia instruments during the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon where the students can experiment with the learned concepts through ad-hoc developed software.
All the students will receive a copy of the lessons slides and a copy of the training software.
